1.1 - Замечания
Enlightenment DR17, Базовые Библиотеки Enlightenment (Enlightenment Foundation Libraries, далее - EFL) и различные приложения, описываемые в этом руководстве, еще не вышли в свет. Код, находящийся сейчас в CVS, не является финальным релизом и пока далек от законченности и стабильности. Все библиотеки и программы постоянно дорабатываются и поэтому официально пока не поддерживаются. Иногда код из CVS может вообще не собираться. Другими словами, не удивляйтесь, столкнувшись с глюками или с тем, что многое пока не работает, или работает не так, как ожидалось. Руководство, которое вы читаете, тоже находится в процессе написания, и мы стараемся поддерживать его в актуальном состоянии, чтобы отразить все изменения в CVS. Авторы руководства и разработчики E17 не отвечают за проблемы, связанные с использованием руководства или программ и библиотек, описываемых в нем. Однако не пугайтесь. Несмотря на то, что E17 и приложения на базе EFL пока предназначены только для разработчиков, опробовать их в работе может любой желающий.
При написании руководства мы постарались избежать ошибок, но тем не менее могли что-то пропустить. Пожалуйста сообщите нам, если вы заметите неточности. Также имейте ввиду, что руководство желательно прочитать от корки до корки; иначе вы можете пропустить что-то важное, иногда даже в главе, специально этой вещи не посвященной.
Время документации еще не совсем пришло, ведь перед релизом много чего поменяется. Несмотря на это, руководство будет полезно всем тестерам и просто любопытствующим. :-)

Elive is your Linux distribution based on Enlightenment 17 and 16 desktop environments with a selection of the best things available in the linux world.
You should not see Elive as a common LiveCD, that word can't explain what it really is. First of all, Elive has one of the best hardware autodetection and selfconfiguration of the linux systems, as well as a wide support for different kinds of monitors. This means everyone will have their X server running.
It has also the capability of writting in a virtual system (in the liveCD mode). This allows to install any program through apt-get or compile it, without any problem. This will not change anything on the cd or your system once you reboot.
Elive is not only a liveCD, but also a debian based distribution that can be installed on the harddisk. The installation differs from every other liveCD, there have been much work to make it clean (common live cd installations are pretty buggy). Elive was created form scratch, making it a totally clean system. Designed to have a bug free installation independent of the liveCD. Elive has two distinct systems to achieve this.
Elive aims to be something amazing, without being hard to use, that's what makes the biggest difference between others livecds. Featuring great performances, and also a full desktop for the linux newbie and the advanced user.
The default window manager is Enlightenment 16.8. Of course Enlightenment 17 is also included , as well as the EFL libraries and most of the applications made on top of this libraries.

It seems Memprof is an orphaned piece of VERY USEFUL software that developers like ME love
to death because it does some things I have yet to find anywhere else when it comes to
memory allocation debugging. Mainly the easy LIVE PROFILING is insanely convenient. As a
developer who has been coding for quite a while doing my own memory management - I don't
suffer from traditional memory leaks much. I'm fastidious about keeping track of my
pointers. Sometimes TOO fastidious, so instead of leaking, I just end up with STALE memory.
Memory allocated and with pointers tracking it in object accounting lists, but the memory
being entirely useless remaining allocated.
Memprof is a GREAT utility to do just that. But it's fairly dead now. No releases since
2002, and recently with glibc-2.3.4 and beyond it broke due to recursion in the memory
interceptor as now the glibc backtrace calls end up dynamically loading libraries and thus
indirectly causing memory allocations within the memory allocation debugging/accounting
code. This is ALL BAD as it basically means nothing works under memprof. So with some fixing
I have made it work again. I do not guarantee it works on anything other than Debian
Unstable (SID) and even then it is IFFY (do NOT compile with ANY optimizations - use -O0
optimization when compiling to make sure it actually works). I have fixed the backtrace
calls to remove the most recent stack member as it's useless (its always malloc, calloc or
realloc which is pretty useless as anyone knows that our allocations WILL come from one of
those 3 anyway - it's the calling functions that matter).
I have also added a new window to memprof - this displays an active memory map of the
process as well as a memory usage graph over time so you can watch where the memory usage
peaks are etc. This of course is NOT PERFECT. I did a quick job of making it work. It's a
useful tool when debugging anyway.

Жаль у меня 3Д воллпейпер тормозит. Где происходит скролирование вправо каких-то джунглей. На видеоролике подобный был показан. У кого не тормозит? Наверно FX5200 пора выкидывать
может пора нормально настроить видеокарту?Тогда бы у меня и другие 3Д приложения тормозили. Чего не наблюдается.
